This was a Free Crochet Along from my Helenmay Crochet You Tube Channel Facebook Group.  It is free to join my Facebook group.  I had to copy some of the written pattern off of my PDF forms, so please let me know if there are any typos or errors. When I copied off of the PDF form, the reader misread some of the typed words. Enjoy! Please share a picture of your finished crochet Eeyore with me! I would love to see him! The free PDF written pattern downloads were removed 23Oct18. Now, the PDF written pattern downloads for Crochet Eeyore are available for free for Helenmay Crochet Special Donor Members only.

Materials:

-tapestry needle

-pair of scissors

-button of your choice for the tail. If you want a button similar to mine, click here, or the picture.

– round cup, 5mm, iridescent, sequins (for the eyes).  You can use an 8mm, but I prefer the look of the 5mm cup. Click here, or the picture.

51MRckPuL0L

You can use needle and thread to sew the sequin on, but this is what I would recommend using, click here.  Use one of your slender tapestry needles with a large eye to sew it in place. It works great.

-l am going to be using different yarn colors for the crochet-along (CAL):

RedHeart Yarn Colors that I am using:

-1 skein sparkly white, but you can use regular white (for the eyes).

-1 skein Black (for the eyes and mouth)

-l am using Effervesce Biscuit colored yarn, but it has been discontinued.  You can use I skein Red Heart Aran colored yarn as a substitute, or an equivalent beige colored yarn (for the snout).

-1 skein coffee (for the hair, eyes, nostrils, eyebrows, and end of tail)

-1 skein Big Twist Value Yarn Lilac colored yarn (for the belly and paws).

-1 skein Big Twist Value Yarn Dark Rose colored yarn (for the inner ears and bow on the tail)

-3 skeins Lavender (for the body, outer ears, arms and legs, and tail).

-Sew the eyes on first.

-Position the left and right eye, and make sure that the sequins line up, and are not crooked. The bottom of the white portion of the eye is 4 rows up from the muzzle, and both eyes have 7-8 stitches between them. Sew the white portions of the eyes first. Make sure that you sew the eyes to the front of Eeyore’s face only, and don’t go through to the back of the head. Next sew the black portion of the eye in place, making sure to keep the sequin straight, and no loose yarn ends or monofilament is protruding around the edges of the eye. Then sew the brown portion of the eye.
-Next sew on the nostrils: -Facing Eeyore, form an imaginary line down along the inner portion of the right eye, 6 rows down on the white muzzle portion, *come up with your tapestry needle, and the brown yarn, from the wrong side of Eeyore’s face, go over one stitch, and down two rows. Tie a knot, on the wrong side. Repeat from * one more time. Now, form an imaginary line down along the inner portion of the left eye, 6 rows down on the white muzzle portion, *come up with your tapestry needle, and the brown yarn, from the wrong side of Eeyore’s face (six stitches over from the top of the other nostril), angle towards the other nostril, 1 stitch over, and 2 rows down. Tie a knot, on the wrong side. Repeat from * one more time.
-Making the mouth: -Use your black yarn. With Eeyore facing you, with the top right nostril as a guide, go 3 rows up, and 4 stitches to the right, come up from the wrong side with your tapestry needle. With your black yarn, go up one row, and 2 stitches to the right, tie a knot on the wrong side. Go down one row, and 2 stitches to the right, come up from the wrong side with your tapestry needle. Go up one row, and 2 stitches to the left, which will complete the right top curve of Eeyore’s smile. Place 2 yarn markers: One yarn marker 2 rows up from the Magic circle, the other yarn marker should be symmetrical with the very top portion of the other curved portion of the smile (on the opposite side). Going down 3 rows at a time with your black yarn, go towards the yarn marker in the center of the smile ( 2 rows up from the magic circle), and then go up towards the other top curve of the left curved portion of the smile. You should be forming a large “U” shape. Then to form the top curve of the left curved portion of the smile Go 2 stitches to the right, and down one row. Go back to the center, where you started, then go over two stitches to the left, and down one row, and then back to the center where you started. The left curved portion of the smile should be complete. Tie a knot on the wrong side. Use the picture on page 5 as a guide.
-Sewing the eyebrows on: -One row above Eeyore’s eyes. Line up the right side of the eyebrow with the outer portion of Eeyore’s eyes, and the left side of the eyebrow with the inner portion of Eeyore’s eyes. Make sure that your eyebrows are symmetrical (the same on both sides). Again, use the picture on page 5 as a guide.

CROCHETING THE OUTER AND INNER EARS TOGETHER:

I used the same color yarn as the outer ear to crochet the ears together, which is Lavender.

-Place the inner ear on top of the outer ear (Sometimes different yarns will end up with different sizes after you are finished crocheting. Even though I used both Red Heart, Medium 4 yarns, my inner ears were a little smaller, which doesn’t matter.) I just stretched the inner ear slightly as I crocheted.

Bring up a loop; with both bottom strands of yarn made by the loop.

Now, you should have 3 loops on the crochet hook. Bring the non-loop portion of the yarn through all 3 loops on your hook.

Turn your crochet work inside out, so the wrong side is facing you, and you should have one loop of hair formed. Repeat from * until you have completed enough rounds that measure 14 inches.  You can make 1-3 rounds of just 1sc in every stitch, in between your loops of hair rounds.

The Eeyore hair should measure approximately 14 inches.  If you measure to the end of the loops, it is approximately 15 inches long. After you have completed the length that you want:

-*sc2tog then make a crochet loop. Repeat from * for one round.

-Sc2tog around until almost closed, slst closed. FO. Trim your loose yarn ends so that they blend in with the loops of yarn hair.

Set the crochet Eeyore hair aside for now.

Gather your crochet Eeyore pieces: Head, Hair, Body. Sew the head on the body. Make sure that you position the head towards the top of the body as shown in the picture above. Line up the head on the side of the body where you joined colors for the stripes (We are going to cover this part of the body with a crochet belly piece that is the same color as the muzzle. We will make this belly piece later.). Make sure that the Eeyore face is looking in the direction that you want it to; as you sew the head in place. If you need to pull the head, so that Eeyore looks upwards a little, sew it in place on the body to position the head correctly. I would recommend sewing the head in place securely because my experience is that children like to grab Eeyore by the hair and drag him around..lol…

Crochet Belly: Lilac colored yarn

  • -ch25 -Make lsc into the second chain from the hook, and lsc in every stitch back across, except for the last stitch. Make 3sc into the last stitch. Turn your work, so that you will be crocheting on the opposite side, creating a circle. We will be working in rounds to complete the belly.
  • -Make lsc in the next stitch on the opposite side, and lsc in every stitch back across, except for the last stitch. Make 3sc into the last stitch (Bury your loose yarn end as you crochet). (Total stitches 51). Don’t worry if your stitch count is off by a couple of stitches.

Working in rounds: Place your yarn marker.

  • First-round- lsc in 24 stitches and 2sc into the 25th stitch on the end. lsc into the next 21 stitches, and 2sc into the last stitch on the end before the yarn marker. (53 total stitches).

Eeyore Arms and Legs, cont: Increase rounds:

  • -*Make lsc in 3 stitches and then 2sc into the fourth stitch. Repeat from * for one round. Make lsc in the remaining stitches. (6total)
  • -Make lsc in 2 stitches and then 2sc into the third stitch. Repeat from * for one round. Make lsc in the 2 remaining stitches (34 total)
  • -Make lsc into the next 22 stitches and then change yarn color (Make sure this brings you towards the back of your arm, or leg). Change yarn color to Lavender. use craft stuffing to stuff the paw of the arm or leg.
  • -Make 1sc into every stitch around until you have completed 22 rounds (Stuff the arm, or leg, as you crochet). Change yarn color to the Medium Purple color. Only place the craft stuffing up to the lavender colored yarn. Don’t use craft stuffing in the Medium purple colored yarn area (this portion is going to be the part of the upper arm, and leg, that attaches to the body). -Make lsc into every stitch around until you have completed 11 rounds.
  • -Slst. FO.

Sew on the legs, then sew on the arms: Place a little amount of craft stuffing in the center of the rectangle, before completely sewing it to the body. Sew along the edge, in the shape of a rectangle.

Remember to check that the paws are facing up before sewing the arms and legs in place; make sure that you align them along Eeyore’s side. Also, check that you have the correct position for the legs so that Eeyore is able to sit upright. I used the stripes on the body, to help line up the arms and legs.

Eeyore’s Tail:  Lavender colored yarn, and “chocolate” brown colored yarn for the hair.

–Using the magic circle technique, make 6 sc into the magic circle.

-Make 2sc into every stitch around for one round. (12 total)

Join the brown yarn, and start the loops for the hair the same way that you did for the hairpiece. Cut the lavender colored yarn for now (Make sure that you tie a knot). We will join the lavender yarn again, after finishing the tail hair.

Make 1 round of loops for hair. You can bring the magic circle loose yarn end through to the center of the tail (We won’t be turning the tail inside out).

Increase round with your brown yarn:

-*Make 1sc in one stitch and 2sc into the second stitch. Repeat from * for one round. (18 total)

-Continue to alternate the loops of hair round with 1-2 rounds of 1sc in every stitch until your tail measures approximately 3 inches.

Join the lavender colored yarn. Cut the brown colored yarn. Make 1sc in every stitch around until you have completed 48 rounds (I would recommend adding craft stuffing as you complete the rounds. I wouldn’t recommend overstuffing the tail).

-Slst. FO. Leave a long loose yarn end for sewing the tail on the donkey.

That would be so cute! I have all of the pages from the CAL. I have the first 5 pages up right now. On the material list, I put 8mm sequins, but I like the look of the 5mm better. I’m getting the pages up. So, let me know if you have already reached page 5 and need more pages. I should have them all up by the time you get started. 🙂

    1. Yes, I really Need the rest of Eeyorre!!!!!!
