Now, we are starting with the Middle Left portion of the Graphghan. Brenda B. requested a Turtle to show up in one of the graphed blocks. I am so happy that she made the request because I absolutely love how the adorable turtle turned out!!!

zzzturtlepic2

The Sea Turtle takes up all 4 blocks! I am also considering adding a bow to the turtle’s head.

zzzturtlepic4

If you like the bow, here is the video tutorial:

Here are the free PDF downloadable graphs for the Sea Turtle:

Here is what the Sea Turtle blocks look like after joined with the blocks forming the lower portion of the Graphghan:

zzzturtlepic3

For my Sea Turtle, I had a lot of yarn leftover.  I like to use leftover green yarn for different crochet projects. I like to have a different variety of greens, especially for my Christmas crochet projects. If you don’t want a lot of leftover yarn, you can get smaller skeins instead.

If you like the colors that I chose for my Sea Turtle, these are the yarn choices that I made:

For the main colored yarn for the Sea Turtle, click here, or the picture below to go directly to the affiliate link. Prime eligible!

For the alternate darker color for the Sea Turtle, click here, or the picture below to go directly to the affiliate link. Prime eligible.  I had used “Evergreen” for my turtle, but I couldn’t find the yarn choice on Amazon. This color would be a good alternative yarn choice:

I already have the Pacific Blue Tang fish graphed for one of the next 4 blocks. How could I not have a Pacific Blue Tang fish to go with my clownfish? The other 3 blocks will remain a mystery for now, but I already have ideas brewing! Stay tuned!

The video tutorial will get you started with Block #10. All of the blocks up until now have been a solid color for the starting chain. Block#10 will have multiple colors in the starting chain. After that, the video tutorial will show how I use Tunisian Crochet to join the top and bottom block when the 2 blocks share an image (The Mermaid).

Now, we are finished with the bottom portion of the Graphghan!!! We are going to move up to the middle of the afghan now. Brenda Butler requested a cute turtle to show up in one of my graphs. So, our next 4 blocks will be of an adorably cute large ocean turtle!!! It will go above the clownfish and octopus blocks from the bottom row! I have already finished the graphs for the turtle. I want to finish Tunisian Crocheting all 4 blocks to make sure that it turns out okay before I release the free PDF graphs. So, stay tuned. 🙂

The links below are not affiliates. In my private, but free, Facebook group, I sometimes share some of my favorite crochet pattern links that are from other crochet designers. One day, Leslie P. said: “I love the free patterns you share. When possible could you tell us when those patterns are available on other sites in addition to Ravelry, such as a website or blog?” I responded that I thought that was a wonderful idea and that I would start a blog post series for the crochet pattern links.

Check back with this site periodically for more crochet pattern additions!

Before we begin, I wanted to share some of my direct links:

There are many ways to save your crochet written patterns. If you are wondering how I store my crochet patterns, I have 2 separate external hard drives that I back up my patterns on to. I plan on eventually printing some/most of them and making handmade crochet pattern journals that will include separate memory sticks in. I want to pass them down for my family one day.  You never know who will get the crochet bug… 🙂

This is Part 2 for the CAL.  Here is the direct link for the first part of this Crochet Along (CAL)

Tunisian Crochet Under The Sea Mystery CAL Getting Started

Part 2 for this CAL will start with the Lower Middle 4 block for the blanket/afghan, which will include blocks #5, #6, #7, and #8.

The Lower Middle Treasure Chest Block #5 graph:

Here is the next graph! Did you guess the Squid?! If you did, you were correct!

I don’t know if you can tell from the image above, but I made a mistake. I discuss the mistake and “Frogging,” as well as a trick that I used to prevent from frogging (Undoing your beautiful crochet work due to a mistake) in this video tutorial:

The next video tutorial will show how I used Tunisian Crochet to join block#5 and block#6 together.

zzzzznextpart1

In the picture above, you can see how I used embroidery to sew circles with Prism Craft Thread around the Tunisian stitches. Thank you Brenda Butler for the wonderful idea of using embroidery for my pearls. I think it helped a lot to define the pearls!  This is an optional technique that some people may like to try with their Treasure Chest Pearls. Using embroidery thread for faces is also a different optional technique that I sometimes use.

Another option is to actually use Prism craft thread (stronger/thicker than standard sewing thread) with beads for the pearls. Remember that beads are a CHOKING HAZARD.

20200131_134623

Here is the Prism Craft Thread that is similar to what I keep in my craft room. This affiliate link is Prime eligible and you can choose different colors if you want. I keep the pastel colors because I like to use these colors for the faces. I will be using this craft thread for the faces in the next right lower 4 blocks of this afghan (The Mermaid face and the Merman face). Click here, or the picture below, to go directly to the affiliate link:

51tiGOEboTL

I will finish the Lower Middle 4 block completely before I join it with the Lower Left 4 block:

zzzzznextpart2

Here is your next graph!  If you like the color that I used for my blue whale shark it is Caron One Pound “Ocean” color.

Blue Whale Shark Under The Sea Block#7

20200201_055830

In block#8 I had fun with the scuba diver! In the graph, I didn’t put the “H” on the scuba diver belt, but the finished image will have an “H” for mine. The “H” is for Helen. 🙂

I am going for the treasure..lol…at least that is what I will tell the recipient when they receive the finished afghan.  Here is your next block:

Scuba Diver Under The Sea Block #8

I have already finished drawing the last 4 blocks for this bottom row of the blanket! The HERO we will call a “Merman!” I will also have a beautiful Mermaid. The HERO has an incredible gift for the Mermaid!  I know, I know, you want to see it, but you have to wait until we complete the lower middle portion of the blanket first…lol…
