Some of you may know that one of my Crochet Amigurumi Boxer Dog’s named “Brindle” has a secret compartment that makes her a coin bank! If you would like to see how I made her, here is the YouTube video tutorial that shows how I did it:

Anyway, “Brindle” was getting very full of coins. There were way too many coins for me to wrap myself and take to the bank. So, for the first time ever, I decided to use Coinstar. I was expecting to have to pay 11% for using the service, but was very happily surprised to see that the Coinstar that I went to offered more than one option!!! I could take cash and pay the 11% service fee, or I could get an Amazon e-gift card without any service fee!!! Of course, I chose the Amazon e-gift card! LOL! You will see what I used inside of “Brindle” for the coin bank in my YouTube video tutorial. The item that I used worked perfectly!!! I just carried it into the location with the Coinstar (It was quite heavy with coins) and began pouring my coins out of the opening of the container. I had to reach in and unclog it once in a while, but it worked well. If you think that you may have difficulties lifting the heavy container up, you may want to transfer your coins to a bag first.  A nice lady saw me emptying my coins into the Coinstar and asked me if the machine wrapped the coins for me..lol…I told her that it took the coins in exchange for an Amazon e-gift card for 1:1! I love it!  How much did “Brindle’s” coin bank deliver? Let us just say that “Brindle” is a good doggie. A very, very, good doggie!

I have a family member that loves decorating for Christmas as much as I do, but they are a master at it, and their collection of adorable Christmas items way outnumbers mine! Her first request was for a Crochet Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause, then it was a Snowman, and now it is Crochet Rudolph and his girlfriend. We have been having a blast adding to our collection of Christmas Heirlooms. If you would like to make a crochet Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause and/or Snowman, here is the direct link to the blog post:

Approximate Measurements: Height 14 inches and width 11.5 inches.

GENERAL MATERIALS LIST: You can mix and match yarn colors for different looks. Just be aware that different yarn choices can change the look and size of your crochet Reindeer when finished. Also, changing your crochet hook size, will also affect the size of your crochet Reindeer. The following are the materials that I used:

Crochet Hook Size 3.75mm
– 1 Tapestry/Darning Needle
A pair of Scissors.
– 1 pair of Safety Doll Eyes 30mm Comical Eyes (Buy in Bulk. Prime Eligible) (If you just want a couple to start; go to 6060 eyes) Optional Safety Doll Eyes 15mm and 1 sheet of white glitter felt (buy in bulk). Embroidery scissors (Amazon Choice and Prime Eligible) help to make the small “x” in the glitter felt; to fit the Safety doll eye through.
– Optional: Dritz Upholstery Needle 12 inches. The Upholstery needle makes it easier to attach the moveable crochet legs.
-1 Jingle Bell 12mm per Reindeer crochet collar: Jingle Bell 12mm in bulk, you may like multi-colored jingle bells 12mm in bulk (Double check the price should be $6.00 or less and prime eligible).
– Craft stuffing. I recommend inexpensive pillow stuffing.

Yarn that I used:

-1 skein Main color for Reindeer You will need to use 2 skeins if you use more of the Main color for the body of the reindeer.
-Optional: 1 skein 100% acrylic Medium 4 Bright Red yarn color for a red nosed Reindeer and/or the Reindeer Collar. You only need 1 small skein of pink for the female reindeer collar and bow. Here is the same yarn color that I used in a larger skein pink yarn in super Saver size that I used for the female Reindeer.
-1 skein 100% acrylic Medium 4 Black (or Dark Brown) yarn color for a regular nosed Reindeer. I found this value black yarn that is part wool for a great price and is prime eligible. You can use the leftover yarn for another fun crochet project.
-1 skein 100% acrylic Medium 4 Dark Brown yarn color for your Reindeer antlers and Reindeer hooves.
-1 skein 100% acrylic Medium 4 yarn Beige (or White) yarn color for the alternate color.  I think that you will love this Fashion Soft beige colored yarn that is prime eligible.

If you are making your crochet Reindeer for a child, you can make your own activity booklet, to go with your crochet Reindeer, with the free PDF downloadable files available below.

If you like how I made mine in the picture above, I used a hole punch (Amazon Prime eligible) and Multi-colored Rings that open (Amazon Prime Eligible)

I like the rings that open, because you can remove the activity sheets easier.  I found all of the following activity sheets free online. These are just a few of the ones that I printed for my family:

All American Afghan Design by Linda Daley. “Leisure Arts”

In my Helenmay Crochet YouTube Channel Facebook Group, Kim C. shared a picture of her finished Crochet American Flag Afghan.

Her afghan made me want to make one as well! When Judy C. informed me that it was a Leisure Arts crochet written pattern, it brought back memories of when I first started reading crochet written patterns. Leisure Arts has some of the best crochet written patterns out there! Their crochet written patterns are so easy to follow, and I love them. I also love how Leisure Arts employs so many American Veterans. I wanted to write a blog post for this pattern, because I am going to go back and try to make this crochet pattern in the far future. If you would like to make one too, this is what Leisure Arts wrote on this particular pattern: “FREE FOR YOU from Leisure Arts, Inc. ©2012 All rights reserved. These instructions may be photocopied and shared with your friends. They may not be kitted or sold. We have made every effort to ensure that these instructions are accurate and complete. We cannot, however, be responsible for human error, typographical mistakes, or variations in individual work. ”

You can thank Sarah L. for this Crochet-Along (CAL). After I finished my Crochet Large Amigurumi Eeyore CAL  I asked the people in my Helenmay Crochet YouTube Channel Facebook Group for special requests for my next CAL. Sarah L. was the first to respond, and she requested the Christmas Elf. I thought that a Christmas Elf would be perfect for my Crochet Christmas Heirloom collection. The Elves went perfectly with my crochet reindeer!

I love going to antique stores! When I first agreed to make a crochet elf CAL, I found the above comic book, and I couldn’t resist purchasing it.  I didn’t spend $0.15, but I still think I got a great deal for it. I thought it would go perfectly with my crochet elves. I am putting the delicate pages in PDF format and then sealing the original version to pass down to the next generations in my family. The PDF format version of the stories will come out with my Christmas Elves when I put them out each year for Christmas.
