I have a wonderful surprise for people following along with my Crochet Along (CAL)!!!

One FREE random surprise package that includes a Furl Tunisian Crochet Hook!! Go to Contests and Giveaways for the year 2020 for details!  I am not sponsored, or affiliated with Furls.

I can’t believe that we are on the last row of the Tunisian Under The Sea Mystery Afghan!! We have only 12 blocks left before we start attaching the fleece backing!

I already have the first 4 blocks drawn and graphed for the top row! The first block will be a Starfish!

1200px-Purple_and_Orange_Starfish_on_the_Beach_(2884079538)

This is what your finished Tunisian Crochet Starfish will look like:

Here is your downloadable PDF Starfish Block #25  :

Starfish Under The Sea Block#25

You may notice that at the top of the block, I have a lighter ocean blue that helps simulate ocean waves. If you like the color blue that I chose for the lighter ocean blue, it is “Crafter’s Secret” yarn color Turquoise.

The next block will be Seal Island!

la-jolla-cove-seal-1263x560

For the next Seal Island block, you will need a light brown color for the Island. I used “Yarnbee soft and sleek, low pill fiber” tobacco-colored yarn.

The tree will need to be a different colored yarn. If you want to use the same colored yarn as me, click here, or the picture below to go directly to the affiliate link:

The coconuts will need a darker brown. Click here, or the picture below to go directly to the affiliate link:

I made my seal a sparkle light gray with a sparkle blue outline.  You will need a different colored blue for the sky. If you would like the same color sky as mine, click here, or the picture below to go directly to the affiliate link (Double check the price):

Here is what my Tunisian Crochet Seal Island Block #26 looks like:

20200302_113806

It is very important to pay attention to your ocean blue colors and sky blue colors. I made a couple of mistakes by making the sky blue an ocean blue, which meant some “frogging” (Having to undo your beautiful crochet work). I really had to frog a lot for my “ship” block, which is the last block for this Tunisian Graphghan. I hope that this will help you avoid the same mistakes that I made. 🙂

Here is the free downloadable PDF graph for my Seal Island Block:

Seal Island Under The Sea Block#26

The last 2 blocks will be a Pug Dog in an inner tube!!!! Most of you know that I am known for my Helenmay Crochet Dogs. One of my most popular crochet dogs is my Crochet Pug Dog!

18193931_606565109532474_2592505985984620997_n

As soon as I finish both blocks #27 and #28 for the pug dog, I will upload both graphs. I am right on schedule with my goal date for completing this Graphghan. I have already started my crochet design for my amigurumi Panda, and so far my Panda prototype is simply adorable! My goal date for completing my Crochet Amigurumi Panda YouTube video tutorials is by the end of March 2020, which is right on schedule. If you would like to see what I am making next, here is the direct blog post: “Helenmay Crochet What Are You Making Next For the Year 2020!?!?!?”

I already have the next 4 blocks drawn and ready to graph!  These blocks will be in Part 8.

Blocks #29 and #30 will be a girl and boy dolphin. In block#33 you will see an Orca. Did you know that an Orca is actually a dolphin?!?!? “The largest dolphin, the orca, can grow to be over 30 feet long. The smallest, the Maui dolphin, is just five feet long.” from National Geographic.

morigenos_pcb_02_tilen_genov

Block#31 is my husband’s favorite! Do you know what it is?

Sea-otter2004-by-Ryan-Wolt-MA-043219-3

If you guessed a sea otter, then you are correct! Did you know that some Sea Otters can reach a size of 4 feet?!?!!? To learn more, here is the direct link: National Geographic Sea Otters.

Block #32, how could I leave out a whale? Never!

hqdefault

“The largest animals to have ever lived on Earth, blue whales can grow to over 30m long and weigh more than 130,000kg – that’s longer than three buses and heavier than three lorries!” “Pretty much everything about the blue whale is massive. It’s tongue weighs as much as an elephant, its heart is the size of a car and its blood vessels are so wide you could swim through them!”  Here is the direct link to learn more: National Geographic Kids Blue Whale Facts.

I also wanted to share a wonderful storage container!!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I was able to fit my Tunisian Crochet Wizard of Oz Graphghan into it for storage!!!! That means that I will be able to fit this Tunisian Crochet Under The Sea Graphghan into one also! If you would like to check it out, click here, or the picture below to go directly to the affiliate link:

Now, back to Blocks #27 and #28:

How cute is the pug dog swimming in the ocean!! I just love how he turned out!!

Here are the free downloadable PDF graphs:

Now, you can start planning for your background fleece.  I had mine cut by Joann Craft store. I had my fleece cut larger than my Tunisian Crochet Under The Sea Mystery CAL Graphghan. My cut fleece measures 69″ x 86″.

20200317_064428

You can see that I chose a “Marvel Comics” hero themed fleece to coincide with the San Diego county fair.

20200317_065218

What is nice about getting an inexpensive fleece backing from Joann’s Craft Store, or another local fabric/craft store, is that you can cut it to size. Once I am finished, I will trim the border to fit my finished Graphghan. If I have any left over fleece, I can use it to make small bags. 🙂

I used Lion Brand Pound of Love for my main ocean blue color. I am running out of my 2nd skein of the main ocean blue color. You can see how I started blending a lighter ocean blue color towards the top of the Graphghan. I have decided to add more of the lighter ocean blue for the rest of the top blocks so I don’t need to purchase another skein of my main ocean blue color. If you used the same color ocean blue as I did, you can decide if you want to purchase another skein of the main ocean blue color, or add another lighter ocean blue color like I am doing.

Now, we are ready for the next 4 blocks!!  Here is the direct link to Part 8:

One FREE random surprise package that includes a Furl Tunisian Crochet Hook!! Go to Contests and Giveaways for the year 2020 for details!

This will be the last 4 blocks for the middle of the blanket!!! After that, we only have one row left until our Tunisian Under The Sea Graphghan design will be complete! I have had a blast leaving you in suspense, and I have even more amazing graph surprises before we are finished with this uniquely awesome Graphghan!

I don’t know if any of you are aware, but this time of year is a really good time to shop at Hobby Lobby. I just took my Christmas gift card and had fun walking the aisles. It is a true crafter paradise..lol…Anyway, I saw another amazing book that I added to my “Under The Sea” theme. This next book is all about SHARKS! Since I have all of these great books to go with my finished Tunisian Under The Sea Graphghan, I will need a place to put them. I have decided to make a BONUS book pillow to go with the finished blanket.

This book is also available on Amazon, click here, or the picture below to go directly to the affiliate link.

Not only is this shark book funny, but it is educational as well. I even learned a few things myself.

The next 4 blocks have been drawn and graphed by yours truly, and I will release them after I complete them. I want to make sure that they turn out as awesome as the graph looks! I have 2 blocks for the main Great White Shark. One of the blocks will be of another Mystery shark. The last of the 4 blocks will be an underwater Mystery machine!!

Well, here he is! I just love how he turned out! He posed for his cheeky grin:

For the next block, I knew that the submarine had to be yellow. This Beatles song kept going through my head as I made it: Yellow Submarine Beatles song.

Here is the PDF download for the Yellow Submarine block #23

I think that the last shark in this 4 block always fascinates everyone! The unusual shape of the “Hammerhead” shark makes it remarkably unique. I knew that I had to include it on my Under The Sea Graphghan!

20200228_062925

I can’t wait to explain all of the sea characters on my finished Graphghan to the children! They will learn so much about the ocean and what lives there. I will also teach them about mythical creatures and treasure chests!! It will be fun helping them distinguish between truth and fiction, just like the book I shared with you: “Truth or Lie” Sharks!

Here is your downloadable graph for block#24

Hammerhead Shark Under the Sea Block #24

Now, we are finished with the middle portion of the Graphghan!!

20200228_062842

What is going to show up on the last row of 4 blocks for our Graphghan?!?!?!? It is a true Mystery!

I had a lot of fun designing this special crochet pattern for my Ocean Breeze Beauty beanie hat and matching fingerless mittens! I was getting ready to make another crochet blue hat for the Lion Brands yarn “Hat Not Hate” campaign deadline 1Aug20, and I loved the new crochet technique for the brim of the hat. I also loved the FPhdc crochet stitch which I have not used before. The result was my fun Ocean Breeze Beauty!

A family member just sent me this throw that glows in the dark!!! You don’t know how badly I wanted it to fit the back of my blanket, but alas my blanket is going to be larger than this throw. Now, we are starting with the Middle Left portion of the Graphghan. Brenda B. requested a Turtle to show up in one of the graphed blocks. I am so happy that she made the request because I absolutely love how the adorable turtle turned out!!!

zzzturtlepic2

The Sea Turtle takes up all 4 blocks! I am also considering adding a bow to the turtle’s head.

zzzturtlepic4

If you like the bow, here is the video tutorial:

Here is what the Sea Turtle blocks look like after joined with the blocks forming the lower portion of the Graphghan:

zzzturtlepic3

For my Sea Turtle, I had a lot of yarn leftover.  I like to use leftover green yarn for different crochet projects. I like to have a different variety of greens, especially for my Christmas crochet projects. If you don’t want a lot of leftover yarn, you can get smaller skeins instead.

If you like the colors that I chose for my Sea Turtle, these are the yarn choices that I made:

For the main colored yarn for the Sea Turtle, click here, or the picture below to go directly to the affiliate link. Prime eligible!

41bNGVltMiL

For the alternate darker color for the Sea Turtle, click here, or the picture below to go directly to the affiliate link. Prime eligible.  I had used “Evergreen” for my turtle, but I couldn’t find the yarn choice on Amazon. This color would be a good alternative yarn choice:

41HjIs6NvwL

I already have the Pacific Blue Tang fish graphed for one of the next 4 blocks. How could I not have a Pacific Blue Tang fish to go with my clownfish? The other 3 blocks will remain a mystery for now, but I already have ideas brewing! Stay tuned!
